Cawthron Offers Economic Modelling

Cawthron has appointed Dr. Chris Batstone to expand its services in resource economics solutions and institutional analysis.

Chris brings experience in science, commerce and fisheries into his new role as part of the Sustainable Business Group. The appointment is jointly with Auckland University of Technology where he works with post-graduate students in economic development, sustainable business and aquaculture commercialisation. Chris is already doing economic modelling for Cawthron clients and he says while the process isn't new, the fact that Cawthron now offers it means clients receive an integrated service. "We're bringing the science and the commercial aspects together so we can see the economic consequences of science-led innovation. I bring a combination of theory and practice in operations, commerce and science to this one role".

Chris is also working on other projects as part of the Sustainable Business Group and says he's enjoying the role. "I appreciate interacting with the real world and real world issues. The academic and Cawthron roles complement each other well".
