Cawthron laboratory services during the festive season

With the festive season fast approaching, we’d like to share with you the Cawthron Laboratories analytical testing opening hours. All laboratories will be running with a skeleton staff during this period (excluding GMP – see below).
Microbiology Laboratory
This lab is open 365 days-a-year, but on Sunday and statutory holidays, only routine local regional council water samples can be delivered between 9am and 12 noon – please ring the after-hours sample reception buzzer when dropping off your samples. Urgent microbiological samples can be received outside of these times by prior arrangement only.

Food Chemistry Laboratory
This lab will be working with a skeleton staff for non-statutory days and closed at weekends.
GMP Laboratory
This lab will be closed from Thursday 23 December 2021 and will reopen Wednesday 5 January 2022.
Freshwater (Micro-algae and Biotoxin) Laboratories
This lab will be working with a skeleton staff for non-statutory days and closed at weekends. If you require extra bottles or sampling equipment over this period, please let us know by 10th December. If there are urgent and unexpected Cyanotoxin samples over that period, contact the laboratory before sending them to us. As we are operating with a skeleton staff, we cannot guarantee our ability to absorb unannounced samples.
Marine/Shellfish (Micro-algae and Biotoxin) Laboratories

Courier Services
If you plan to send us perishable/time sensitive samples for testing, we recommend that the following two dates are the last you use to ensure delivery:
• Prior to Christmas: Thursday 23 December 2021
• Prior to New Year: Thursday 30 December 2021
Please note that under current freight delay conditions, couriers cannot guarantee next day deliveries even if a next day ticket is paid for and applied.
Full laboratory services will resume from Wednesday 5 January 2022.
