Role at Cawthron

Natali is a scientist in the Aquaculture Group at Cawthron.  She is a passionate marine scientist working on physiology of marine invertebrates.  Currently, her research aims to understand shellfish stress, health and nutrition of different aquaculture species through the development of immunological assays and quantifying oxidative damage and antioxidant biomakers.

Her research has a strong commercial impact, trying to understand the animal’s biochemical, molecular and physiological responses thoughout the different aquaculture processes, and the mechanisms used to cope with such procedures.  Natali works closely with the industry in order to optimise current aquaculture industry practices.
